So, you’ve got a copy of Football Manager 2011 and want to play online and show your friends your the best Football Manager around! However, this can prove to be quite difficult to some. My FM2010 tutorial to this was one of the most popular posts on the blog, so I thought I would update it all for FM11

Requirements:

Obviously a copy of FM2011

An internet connection

Hamachi (Download here)

Note: You will all need to be on the same patch to be in a network game, so if you want to play on 11.2, then you will need to all have the 11.2 update installed

Step One

Decide who will be hosting the network game. Preferably the person with the best internet connection as they are who you will all be connecting to. Whoever you have chosen to host, should then start a new game normally, selecting the patch you want to play on, and the leagues you want loaded. If you are hosting, go into preferences, then display and sound, then network and tick the box ‘run as server’, this will allow everyone else to connect to the save after everything has been set up.

Step Two

Install hamachi, and once installed and loaded, click the power on button:

Step Three

If you have going to be hosting the online game, then you will need to click the network tab at the top and click Create a New Network, a box will now appear where you will have to put in a unique ID and password.

If you are joining your friend who is hosting the network, you need to click network tab and click Join Existing Network and enter the id and password your friend used.

Step Four

At this stage, the host has created a network on hamachi, started a new FM game and ticked run as server, and any one that is going to join the network game has joined the hamachi server. Everyone who is going to join the host’s game, will need to load up FM2011, click the huge Join Network Game button on the home screen, and click the button in the bottom right corner which says join other server. A box will pop up asking for the network address. You should put in the network address which is displayed on the Hamachi server which is displayed for the host.

Step Five

Once everyone has joined the network game, you should be inside the host’s FM save, and ready to add a new manager and select a club. Everything from now on should run normally, and this is where the fun begins! My final step is to enjoy the network game, and absoutley destroy your friend’s and show you are the king of FM2011!

If you have any questions or run into any difficulties, don’t be afraid to leave a comment on this post and I will attempt to answer any questions!

Jam-packed with solid, no-nonsense advice, this eBook will lead you through managing your squad on and off the pitch to the stratospheric levels you have only ever dreamed of previously.

108 pages of quality tips and in-depth insight on Football Manager 2011 you will not find anywhere else, no padding, no filler.

A step-by-step strategy for success from FM beta testers in all facets of the game including: tactics, training, scouting & squad management.

Written in an easy-to-read format with no overcomplicated technical or mathematical wording at all; the guide is completely understandable to any avid football fan.

Jordan Cooper and Wonderkid recentley came together to launch perhaps the best Football Manager e-book to date. This packed book features pages upon pages of useful FM2011 tips, hints, tricks and inside information that you seriously will not find anywhere else.

After being sent a review copy, I have read through the book and loved it. One of the best things about the book though is that it has been organised in a way that you can easily find what your looking for, by looking at the contents for a specific section of just using the search tool. This means that if your ever wondering about something or need some tips, you can open it up at any time and find what your looking for.

This is half supposed to be a ‘review’, so I do have one criticism of the book, 108 pages is a hell of a lot of pages & words, and in my opinion the font is a bit small. But the creators of the book make up for this with the easy to grasp tables throughout, helping us understand each section easier, and outlining the very best tips.

Straight from the writers, here are 10 things you’ll find in The Ultimate FM Walkthrough Guide :

1. The Philosophy of Football Management: How to look beyond the game as a spectator and interpret the puzzle. Understand the real dynamics.

2. Approaching The Job: A step-by-step to-do list to easily set up and immerse yourself into a new club. Cover the basics and jump into success.

3. Footballer Genetics: Understanding current/potential ability, attributes, personality traits and preferred moves. What they mean and how to exploit them.

4. Tactical Superiority: Designing formations, philosophies, playing styles, roles, duties, positioning and set pieces. Learn to create tactical masterpieces.

5. Scouting Dynamics: How to build a squad, discover the right talent and assemble the perfect backroom staff team. Learn to look beyond the statistics and see the real player.

6. Training Regime: Getting impactful results from schedules, coaches, tutoring and cultivating a youth squad. Immediately grasp the brand new module for FM2011!!

7. Match Preparation: How to conduct effective pre-match analysis, interpretation and set killer opposition instructions. Discover the real secret to winning games before you kick-off.

8. Touchline Instructions: Understanding each manager shout to make game-changing tactical decisions on the fly. Master the sidelines and command the team.

9. Player Psychology: Inspire your team to glory with pre/post-match team talks and utilizing the assistant manager. Get inside their heads and get them to perform when you need them to.

10. Statistical Analysis: Measuring your club’s performance to tweak management style by reviewing match results. Learn how to find tactical bugs and stop them from occuring.

With 108 pages of strategic hints, tips and advice for our beloved Football Manager, The Ultimate FM Walkthrough Guide really does what it says, and will be useful to all fans of the game, just like me.

The book costs £6.95, but don’t be scared. Despite me being sent a copy for free, I have purchased my own because it’s that awesome, and I think the creators deserve the money for such a great book!

Thanks to the awesome guys at Football Manager, we have been given a few copies of Football Manager 2011 to give away as prizes to some lucky fans! In this specific competition, two copies are up for grabs to be sent out on release day (5th november), and another copy will be up for grabs in a competition in a few weeks.

Anyway, entering the competition couldn’t be easier! One copy will be given away to a lucky fan of our facebook page, and the other copy will be given away to one of our twitter followers. That’s it, it really is that simple!

Our Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/aidtheboss

I’m sure we have all heard the news, Football Manager 2011 will be released on 5th November 2010, great news, and allows all us fansites to get on with updating and preparing for the anticipated release. This post will be used to update you all on new features & videos.

Some of the new features include:

Set Piece Creator – Much like Football Manager 2010’s Tactics Creator, we’ve now added a Set Piece Creator to the game which allows you to set up your set piece routines in a much more intuitive and user-friendly manner.

Press Conference revamp – Not just a new user interface, and not just 150+ new press conference questions, but also all of the previous 500+ press conference questions have been fully reviewed, with possible answers revised where necessary, leading to press conferences being more intuitive and in situ.

Match analysis improvements – Lots of new options available on the match analysis chalkboard, with offsides, free kicks, corners, throw ins, clear cut chances, half chances all now available to analyse via the system, as well as the option to show all of the players match actions at the same time, rather than having to look at them all separately.

Squad registration / squad number split – We’ve separated out the squad registration and squad numbering screens, so you can now give squad numbers to players who don’t need to be registered.

Newgen revamp – Newly generated players, or newgens as we call them, are now created using a new system that looks at player templates for different styles of player, as well as taking national traits into account, to ensure that the types of player in the game are constant throughout the life of your own saved game.

B-Team & Amateur revamp – Due to lots of feedback from our community, particularly from Spanish and Danish users, regarding the way that B teams and amateur work in the game compared to real life, we’ve had a revamp on the way they work to make them more accurate than ever before, including the chance to set up your own clubs B team at the start of the season in appropriate leagues.

Sports Interactive also released two of the biggest new features yesterday involving Youtube and Twitter. Something the community has been wanting for a few years now, the ability to publish videos from FM straight to youtube. This is a great idea and will help build the community and share our best clips. Here is the news quoted straight from Sports Interactive

LONDON (September 24th, 2010) – Sports Interactive and SEGA Europe announced today that the PC version of Football Manager™ 2011 will include the ability to publish achievements and goals to social networking sites, and will have a new camera angle for the 3D match view.

The 2011 version of the award-winning Football Manager series will introduce the ability to upload videos from the hugely improved Match Engine directly to a YouTube account. This will also include videos from the new match engine camera angle, dubbed the “TV camera” due to it being a moving and more zoomed in camera, much like you’d see when watching a match on TV.

Via Twitter, managers can set manual or automatic updates of achievements to their Twitter account, whilst STEAM users can publish over 80 achievements to a personal virtual manager’s office onwww.footballmanager.com as well as their STEAM profiles.

Video highlight uploading with the new camera view is already in action and can be seen on Sports Interactive’s YouTube channel now at www.youtube.com/sigamesofficial

A awesome new fansite to hit the Football Manager community. Have you checked it out yet? If not, do it!

A possible replacement for the long gone football manager portal? Who knows. What I certainly know is that Football Manager Fanboys is a fantastic new fansite with features never seen to the community before. The site is primarily a blog which focuses on bringing you the best content from around different FM fansites, as well as community articles written by the FMFB team. Not only is it supplying us with great content, but the forums are rapidly becoming one of the best places for football manager discussion.

Football Manager Fanboys has some wonderful features for us die hard players so let me take you through them quickly. They come under the tactical playbook and is a cool thing to get some help with our tactics.

Positional Analysis – The positional analysis tool helps us to understand the dynamics of each role with the new tactics creator. It works by hovering over any possible position on the pitch, and gives us full details of what the role is about and what a player in that role will undergo. A possible feature I would like to see is maybe the key attributes needed for each specific role. But that info can be seen on the tactics creator in FM10 so maybe they feel it is not needed.

Positional Compatibility - The newest tool to arrive on FMFB is the positional compatibility. Basically you key in all of a players attributes on the spreadsheet, chose which position and the tool will give you a percentage of how good that player will be in the specific position. This is a very advanced featured and will be a lot of use to both experienced and inexperienced football manager players!

Tactics Creator - The tactics creator is more for sharing your formation with others and is a good tool for bloggers who want to show their readers how they play. It lets you drag the 11 players around on the pitch and add in symbols for offside trap, captains etc. This tool will come in very handy for me when I start up my story again and all of use are begging me for my tactic!!!

FMFB is probably my favourite site out there at the moment and only give us the best content around. To sum it up, all of our FM needs in one place, so if you haven’t already check it out!
